- Application
Typically refers to application software or end user software. Examples of applications include payroll, email, and enterprise resource management applications. Operating systems are not considered applications.
- Asset
In business continuity and information assurance, an asset is any hardware, software, data, personnel, communication system, etc. A loss is incurred if assets are compromised.
- Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP)
A business continuity certification for individuals offered by Disaster Recovery Institute International.
- Audit
An independent review or assessment to ensure compliance with certain internal and external policies, rules, regulations, or standards.
- Auditor
A person that conducts audits.
- Authentication
In information security and business continuity, a means of identifying individuals in order to protect information, data, systems, or other resources.
- Backup
In information security and business continuity, the storing of information and data for retrieval at a later date.

- Business Continuity Plan
Document of procedures, activities, and tasks needed for recovery of critical business processes in the event of a business disruption.
